Last week marked a milestone moment for YuGo as we delivered our first-ever SEND Athletics event in Wiltshire! Set against the stunning backdrop of Marlborough College Athletics Track, over 110 pupils with additional needs from schools across Wiltshire enjoyed a day of accessible sporting fun, sunshine and smiles.
From sprint and relays, to javelin, shotput and long jump, the track was buzzing with energy. These events are all about encouraging participation, giving every student the chance to shine and showing that sport is for everyone.
A huge thank you to Marlborough College for their incredible facilities and to Wiltshire and Swindon Sport for their support in making the day happen.
We were thrilled to welcome pupils from:
- Silverwood School
- Royal Wootton Bassett Academy
- Swindon Academy
- Malmesbury School
- Springfields Academy
- Marlborough St. Mary’s Primary School
After hosting our first school sport event in Wiltshire earlier this year, with the SEND football tournament at Wiltshire FA going down a storm, it felt fantastic to return with an athletics event. Having delivered many successful events with Gloucestershire schools, it’s brilliant to now be offering inclusive, rewarding sporting opportunities for children in Wiltshire.

“The YuGo team were over the moon to bring Athletics to SEND students in Wiltshire. We know how much fun there is to experience running, throwing, and jumping — and all of the students nailed their events! We also know that these events give students an opportunity to experience new things, visit new spaces, and represent their school — something that everyone should experience, and take pride in. A BIG well done to everyone who took part, including the teachers and support staff during the staff race!”
Max Pemberton, Head of Sport, YuGo
“A huge thank you to the YuGo team for allowing our students to experience such an amazing event as today. They all had a wonderful day and you have allowed them to go away with memories that many will always remember.”
Ken Barker, PE Coordinator, Silverwood School
“Thank you so much to you and your colleagues for putting on yesterday. Our students had a great time. Like the football event in Devizes, it gives the students who wouldn’t normally represent the school in sport the chance to do so. Often these students don’t get the opportunity to go off-site. They were all buzzing afterwards.”
John Lambert, Malmesbury School
“We thoroughly enjoyed working with Max and the team at YuGo. It was clear that the event was incredibly valuable for all involved, and we were delighted to support such a meaningful initiative aimed at inspiring and engaging pupils with additional needs. The day was exceptionally well executed, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and the many benefits of taking part.”
Melanie-Jane Hutchings, Head of Conferences & Events, Marlborough College

Making movement meaningful
At YuGo, we know that a love of sport starts at school and we’re here to make sure that every child, no matter their ability, has a chance to find their place and enjoy sport. Our mission is simple: close the gap in access to sport and help young people build healthy, happy lives through physical activity.
