YuGo recently hosted another fantastic SEND Swimming Gala at Tewkesbury Leisure Centre, delivered in proud partnership with Places Leisure — and what a day it was.
Over 100 students came together for a celebration of movement, confidence and teamwork, with 7 specialist schools from across Gloucestershire taking part:
- Alderman Knight School
- Belmont School
- Bettridge School
- Cotswold Chine School
- Heart of the Forest Community Special School
- The Milestone School
We were also thrilled to welcome the Springfields Academy, who travelled all the way from Wiltshire especially to be part of the event.

The gala brought together a brilliant mix of students with additional needs from Key Stage 2, 3 and 4, all enjoying swimming in a way that worked for them. Participants competed in friendly races in the main pool, while others enjoyed relaxing swimming and free pool play in the secondary pool.
The atmosphere throughout the day was buzzing. Students supported one another, celebrated their achievements and showed just how much confidence can grow when sport is made accessible and enjoyable.

Congratulations to Alderman Knight School who took home the trophy for Key Stage 2 and 3, with Belmont victorious for Key Stage 4.
A huge well done to all participants – whether racing, splashing, cheering, or simply enjoying time in the water, every student played a part in making the day so special.
The event was expertly led by YuGo coaches Max and Dan, working closely with Swimming Manager Daisy and her incredible team of enthusiastic staff and volunteers at Tewkesbury Leisure Centre. Their care, energy and attention to detail ensured the day ran smoothly and that every young person felt supported.
